We don't tally the children we kill for the same reason monsters don't buy mirrors.

Last night a friend and I went to see Al Gore's very well made movie "An Inconvenient Truth". This film follows Al around the world as he shows his high tech powerpoint presentation. Al is hopeful and redemptive, as if having the election stolened by the codpiece allowed him to rediscover a life long cause that was un-achievable while holding political office. This is science with a heart targeting both those already versed in the dangers of global warming and those who are still befuddled by the easlily discredited global warming skeptics. The research and film footage of the devastating changes occurring in Arctic & Antarctic is terrifing. Unrestrainted CO2 use is poised with a giant ice pick, bent on won last intoxicating cocktail before last call. This film reminds us that our lives on this fragile mother is threatened only be complacency and the shrinking lying science of fossil fuel industry. Their power over us is political sinew and ka-ching. One more reason to reward and punish politicians by who pulls their purse strings.

Sometime during the summer of 1971, Philip Guston (1913-1980) began a visual narrative of Richard Nixon's life, a series of almost eighty drawings that caught one of America's most maligned politicians in a depraved, monstrous state. Titled Poor Richard, these caricatures play on the brooding, self-pitying character that Nixon exuded throughout his life.

Bad Apples from a Rotten Tree. Military Training and Atrocities. The mounting revelations of war crimes in Iraq have ripped the mask of democracy and nation-building off of a fatigued and wearied Uncle Sam, revealing the true face of U.S. imperialism.

The Nobel Prize Lecture Art, Truth and PoliticsBy HAROLD PINTER. In 1958 I wrote the following: 'There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false. A thing is not necessarily either true or false; it can be both true and false.' I believe that these assertions still make sense and do still apply to the exploration of reality through art. So as a writer I stand by them but as a citizen I cannot. As a citizen I must ask: What is true? What is false?
